Is car colour factored into your car insurance rate?

I read on the Kanetix.ca site that the colour of my car doesn't affect what I pay for insurance. Is this true? Just wondering, because I thought it did.

A common misconception is that a red or black coloured car will cost more to insure. This is simply not the case, so what you read on Kanetix is true: your car colour does not affect what you pay for your insurance premium.

I understand that of the standard car colours it doesn¿t matter, but what if I have a custom paint job on my vehicle? How do I make sure that if I have to submit a claim that requires my vehicle be repainted I am covered?

Modifications or customizations, including custom paint jobs, must be disclosed to your insurance company in order to be covered. Extra premium is often charged to cover these items.
