| Due to the Drive Test Centres strike, can I get insurance for a scooter before I get my license? | |
| I'm looking to get insurance for a scooter that I am buying. I don't have my licence yet though, and can't get it until the strike at the Drive Test Centres is resolved. Can I get insurance for it? Posted by Guest on 2009/09/17 09:57:57 The strike has been a real problem for prospective new drivers and riders. Unfortunately, without a valid licence you will be unable to get insurance that covers you to ride the scooter. It would be illegal for you to ride the scooter without having the appropriate licence. It is for this reason that you will be unable to get insurance for it.
You can get quotes for the insurance you¿ll hopefully soon need; unfortunately you will not be able to act on purchasing the policy until you have your licence in hand. Quotes can be provided, or obtained, simply by entering your licence date as if you acquired your licence today. This will at least give you an idea of the cost of premiums for your new scooter.

According to a report by Cbc.ca (you can view it here: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/ottawa/story/2009/12/21/drive-test.html), assuming the agreement is accepted, a tentative deal could mean DriveTest centres would re-open province-wide on January 4, 2010 at 1pm. DriveTest's 'Travel Points,' found in smaller communities, would re-open Jan. 5, 2010. Posted by admin on 2009/12/21 14:25:06 |
