How much alcohol am I allowed to bring into Canada?

On the Canada border services agency website, I was able to find the following information:

As long as you are of legal drinking age in the province or territory you enter Canada, you can include limited quantities of alcoholic beverages in you personal entitlement and they must accompany you on your arrival.

You are allowed to import one of the following amounts of alcohol, free of duty and taxes:

  • 1.5 litres of wine;

  • 1.14 litres of liquor;

  • a total of 1.14 litres of wine and liquor; or

  • 24 x 355 millilitre cans or bottles (maximum of 8.5 litres) of beer or ale.

For more details on your particular province or territory, or to see if this has changed since this was posted, check out the CBSA website for more information: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5056-eng.html
