| Want to know if i can insure a car not in my name, for myself to use to get back and forth to work, cause cannot afford to buy my own car at this time
Thank You,
Dan Posted by Guest on 2010/02/17 12:00:06 Currently you cannot take out insurance on a vehicle that is not registered in your name.
Insurance policies require something called "insurable interest" which means that you would stand to lose financially if the vehicle was involved in a loss.
In your situation, you have two options, your friend can transfer ownership into your name, if they are giving the car to you. Otherwise, they can add you as a driver to their auto insurance policy.
