| Can I insure my 1967 cobra kit car? | |
| I have been looking all over Ontario for insurance on my beautiful & certified 1967 cobra kit car which is appraised at $60,000, that's how close to original as you can get. I built this car with the help of a professional car restorer. I built it to leave for my grandson for something he will remember me by, that his pa, pa built with blood, sweat, tears, and love. It will only see 900 to 1200 km a year, garage kept attached to house, with a dog. The car is never left alone. I need help please, if you can't, can you tell me who can? thank you for your time, I hope you can help me. Posted by Kenracey on 2010/06/18 09:11:10 There are several different reasons why you may be finding it difficult to insure your vehicle:
1) If the vehicle is a homemade or kit car, due to safety concerns most insurers will not insure it. However, there are some insurance companies that will insure kit cars if they are professionally assembled. In these cases, proof is required and will need to be provided by the professional. The vehicle cannot be a tuner car or modified for racing.
2) The vehicle¿s use often must be limited to shows, club activities or parades. The vehicle cannot be used to drive to work or used for regular transportation.
3) The driver must qualify. In your case, if your grandson is licensed but under 25 years of age and will be driving the vehicle, the vehicle will not qualify.
