Car insurance for newcomer question.

Is there any insurers who can honour out-of-country insurance history (not from US)?

I tried to find such insurer on kanetix.ca, I answered yes on for the "Before getting this licence, did this driver hold a licence from another country or Canadian province/territory?" question, and I got a quote. But when I phoned the company (belairdirect) to confirm - I was told they only recognise insurance history for US and other Canadian provinces.

I live in Ontario.
