I was cutting branches back on a tree beside my laneway when the ladder slipped and I fell and broke my back . Will my homeowners policy cover me for this injury

Unfortunately, personal bodily injury is not covered under your homeowners policy. Liability for bodily injury to a third party generally is but this circumstance does not apply here. If you have accident or life insurance coverage through a benefit plan by an employer - you should verify with them to see if you have any suitable coverage.
