Do I have to report my an accident to my insurance company

If I do not intend to claim insurance for a single-car accident where no persons were injured, am I required to inform my insurance company about the accident?

Hi,

I liken this scenario to doing your taxes or applying for a new job. Do people fully disclose things 100% on their tax return or on their resume? Sure they dont. Some get away with it, but some regret ever attempting such a thing and end up paying the price for it. If you get a speeding ticket today are you expected to phone your insurer tomorrow and tell them about it? Not really. For insurance claims, you are legally required to disclose your full driving record to your insurance company or broker/agent. In your scenario of a single vehicle accident where your car was damaged, especially if you do not intend on repairing it, you certainly do have to tell your insurer about the damage to the vehicle because there has been a material change in risk with the vehicle they are insuring. Any subsequent claims may not be covered if there is pre-existing damage that was not disclosed to your insurer.

You have to report any accident in order to claim for damages incurred depending on your type of car liability, its coverage and limits.
