| Weather conditions and an accident | |
| I was backing up to turn around in a driveway as I intended to stop my car kept sliding and hit a tree I have few questions
To have this fixed by my insurance company do I require collision coverage
Is the property owner responsible for not having the driveway in drivable condition
Is this considered an at fault accident Or no because of slippery conditions

In this type of situation involving a single vehicle accident you must have collision coverage in order to claim through your insurance. You will be responsible for the deductible listed on your policy. If the property owner did not clear their driveway you can always take matters into your own hands and take civil action against them. I am not a lawyer so I cannot help you any further with advice on third party liability and whether the property could be deemed responsible. Yes, this would be considered an at fault accident and will likely effect your insurance rates if you were to make a collision claim. Although the driveway was slippery, the Highway Traffic Act says you should always drive according to road conditions. In the case of a private parking lot or driveway, single vehicle accidents are always deemed at fault.
