Ever wonder what a traffic ticket or fender-bender might do to your insurance rate? Many people have visions of huge rate increases, but often this is not the case.
Auto insurance quotes from competing insurance companies, were obtained online in July, 2011 from www.kanetix.ca to illustrate how a ticket (or two), a not-at-fault accident, and an at-fault would impact an otherwise clean driving record. Using a 35-year old driver of a 2009 Toyota Corolla in Calgary, Ottawa, and Halifax, the lowest available online quote was recorded for each location.
What's interesting to note is that despite the common misconception that even a not-at-fault will cost you in increased premiums, online quotes show this to be a myth. A not-at-fault accident does not increase the quote you get.
