Four months after a devastating tsunami sent Japan's economy and tourism industry into a tailspin, a new survey reveals more people are considering travelling to the Land of the Rising Sun.
Survey findings from a recent Hotels.com global survey indicate more than 60 per cent of respondents would consider going to Japan on vacation.
Not only were respondents more receptive to going to Japan than they've been in previous surveys, but Japan was pinpointed as being among respondents' favourite potential destinations to travel to, particularly the country's capital city.
"I hope that everyone can visit Japan and experience the best of Tokyo's fantastic hospitality which never changes," said Hideki Yokoyama, senior director of the Bureau of Industrial and Labour Affairs for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. "Moreover, I would like everyone to see that the whole of Japan is working together for a rapid recovery."
The poll also detailed what would incentivize respondents to travel to Japan this year, finding that 70 per cent would visit now if they could fly and book a hotel for an inexpensive price.
However, there can be potential issues with any vacation. Should tourists' flights be cancelled or if they suffer an injury while away, travel insurance may be able to pay for the expenses that may result.
