When Canadian drivers reach a mileage milestone on their vehicles, they may get more than a pat on the back if they're using a particular brand of motor oil. They may also get some cash.
According to executives from the motor oil company Quaker State, if Canadian drivers are using one of its line of products when a driver's vehicle reaches 400,000 kilometers travelled, they may be rewarded the cash value of the car.
Chris Hayek, Quaker State's global brand manager, said Canada's motorists should be rewarded for the mileage achievement.
"With the yearly cost of owning and operating a vehicle in Canada increasing more than 8 per cent from last year, many consumers are looking for ways to help keep their vehicles running smoothly longer, as a way of saving instead of springing for a new vehicle," said Hayek. "We hope those consumers will use the bonus as an incentive to keep their high-mileage vehicles."
While some auto insurance companies offer discounts on fuel-efficient vehicles, some policyholders may prefer to keep their vehicles longer to save on premiums. As a general rule, the longer a customer owns a vehicle and doesn't get into an accident, the more likely it is their premiums will decline.
