As has been widely reported, car sales slowed significantly in Canada last month, largely due to supply shortages resulting from the aftermath of the earthquake that struck Japan. But one foreign car maker that bucked that trend was Hyundai.
Already the most widely used passenger vehicle manufacturer in Canada, Hyundai further solidified that distinction by becoming the best-selling car brand in the country for a fifth month in a row. Some of the top models from Hyundai were the Accent, Elantra and Sonata, leading their respective categories, subcompact, compact and intermediate.
Steve Kelleher, president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, said motorists have come to expect nothing less from the Korea-based auto dealer.
"To have a Hyundai vehicle at or near the top of all three segments clearly shows Hyundai's combination of quality, safety, fuel economy, styling and value is resonating with consumers," said Kelleher.
With 195 dealerships throughout Canada, it's likely auto insurance companies will see an upswing in the number of people insuring new Hyundai models, as it continues to be one of the more common brands found on Canada's roadways.
