Freshen Up Your Living Room For Fall

Faux Fur Throws

As the colder weather approaches, there’s nothing better than adding some cozy layers to your existing décor. Fall may be car-buying season in Canada, but it's also an excuse to redecorate for the cold. One of my favourite ways to do this is in the living room , is with the use of a beautiful faux fur throw; slung on a chair or over the side of a sofa, they’re the perfect budget friendly fall accessory.

Pillows, Baskets, Rugs

Another beautiful way to add warmth and texture to your space is with layered neutrals; a variety of wonderfully textured wool pillows, woven baskets and/or natural fiber rugs can absolutely cozy up your decor and are definitely an economical way to make a room feel re-born. I’m also a huge fan of animal prints for this season; my go to of the moment is luxurious tiger.

Gold Leafing

Of course, a quick DIY project can also be the ticket to a whole new look, with a relatively small investment needed. One of my favourite finishes for this season, and indeed in general, is gold leaf. With a few simple materials and very little money, any piece of furniture or accessory can be completely transformed into something infinitely more luxurious.

And last but not least, perhaps the easiest way to warm up for fall is with the use of paint; my favourite shades for this time of year are creamy whites and charcoal greys…although on opposite ends of the spectrum, they both serve to cozy up a space, making it feel inviting but still refined.

Fresh Blooms

Oh and one more thing, a living room scheme is most certainly not complete without a vase or two of fresh blooms. My favourite ‘bang for your buck’ flower for fall is the white hydrangea…huge puff balls of pretty.
