Pickering car insurance information
Pickering has a population of approximately 94,000 and is located in southern Ontario, just east of Toronto. It is one of the fastest growing areas in Canada as it functions as a close bedroom community for Toronto. In addition to this, the city also has large, farm areas and wildlife areas. It is also part of the Rouge Park System which is North America's largest urban park.
The city was named after Pickering in North Yorkshire and the area was first established in 1791. Agriculture drove the young Pickering economy. The mouth of the Rouge river on Lake Ontario provided a port to ship goods to Toronto and other destinations. Completion of Canada's busiest highways through the area, Highway 401, after WW2 and the building of the Pickering Nuclear Power Generating Station, brought the city further prosperity.
More growth is planned for the area. An area of land expropriated by the government called Seaton will become an urban center and home to an airport as well. There were plans for a larger airport than is now currently slated, but the residents opposed it.
Since Pickering has fewer cars than say Toronto or Vancouver, citizens may be able to pay less for their car insurance than those living in more sizeable places. This may sound strange but there is some logic to this. Insurance companies feel that if there are fewer cars on the road, often times, you have fewer accidents. Here at Kanetix, we can help the residents of Pickering with their car insurance needs. It is quick and easy to get personalized and free auto insurance quotes from the top insurance companies in Canada. Enter your postal code and compare Ontario car insurance rates.
