New COVID-19 Premium Relief Measures Launched by Allstate Canada Group, Intact

As the coronavirus pandemic and Canada’s economic shutdown continues, some Canadian insurers are extending their respective auto insurance premium relief programs to assist their customers. Here are the latest updates as of June 9, 2020:

Allstate Canada Group

Allstate Canada, and its subsidiaries Pembridge and Pafco, are providing a second round of premium refunds for customers with active accounts as of July 6, 2020. The payment will amount to 25% of a customer’s monthly bill and builds on its initial rate relief rebate. The company says eligible customers will receive cheques in August.

Intact Canada

Intact Canada will enhance its my Drive usage-based car insurance program as of June 11, 2020. By enrolling in the program, Intact’s customers automatically receive a 10% discount and have the opportunity to save up to 30% on their premiums based on driving safely. The measure builds on the adjustments Intact is making to help its policyholders during the pandemic.

Intact also says it will reduce its private-passenger vehicle base rate on July 7, 2020, for new customers, and on August 7, 2020, for existing customers who renew their policies. For more information, contact your broker or the insurer directly.
